Gaza Emergency Relief

Humanitarian needs in Gaza have become chronic due to years of ongoing conflict and blockade conditions. Therefore, we provide comprehensive support in the region across food, clean water, safe shelter, healthcare, and hygiene. Our interventions, carried out since the very beginning of the crisis, include the distribution of hot meals, food parcels, drinking water provision, hygiene kits, and emergency shelter solutions. Our relief efforts are not limited to short-term interventions but also include recovery and rehabilitation works to increase the resilience of communities against crises. In this context, activities are carried out to support damaged living spaces, strengthen the water infrastructure, and restore essential services.

Maternal and Child Health Support

Healthcare systems are severely damaged in conflict environments, putting pregnant women and newborn babies at great risk. Therefore, maternal health, childbirth support, and the provision of essential medical supplies are among the priority areas of our emergency relief efforts. Through the support provided to healthcare facilities, the continuity of maternity services is ensured, and mothers are provided with counseling and basic healthcare support.

Psychosocial Support and Child Protection

Children are among the most vulnerable groups in war and disaster environments. Psychosocial support programs are implemented for children affected by trauma, and safe spaces are created to support their physical and mental well-being. Child protection principles remain at the center of all emergency relief activities.

Seasonal Support

Complementary to our year-round humanitarian efforts, we conduct food and qurbani meat distributions during the Ramadan and Eid al-Adha periods, along with winter relief distributions during the colder months.

Emergency Relief in Other Countries

Islamic Relief conducts emergency relief activities not only in Gaza but also across various regions of the world affected by natural disasters and humanitarian crises. For instance, food, hygiene, and shelter support were provided following the floods in Pakistan, while emergency shelter, healthcare, and winter relief efforts were carried out after disasters such as earthquakes in Afghanistan. In Yemen and Sudan, food, clean water, and cash assistance are delivered to families affected by conflicts and epidemics, whereas basic relief supplies and temporary shelter solutions are provided in the Philippines following disasters like earthquakes and typhoons.

In all these interventions, our priority is to conduct a rapid needs assessment from the very first moment of the disaster to deliver timely support to the most vulnerable communities, and subsequently contribute to the recovery and rebuilding processes to support long-term resilience.

Cash Assistance for Gazan Families

Cash assistance is a support model centered on human dignity, allowing beneficiaries to spend according to their own priorities. Islamic Relief Türkiye provides cash assistance through secure and transparent mechanisms to enable vulnerable families to meet their basic needs.

Gazan families evacuated to Türkiye face serious economic difficulties in areas such as housing, food, healthcare, and education while trying to build a new life. The regular cash assistance provided to these families helps them cover their basic expenses and maintain their lives in a more stable manner.

Cash and Complementary Support for Persons with Disabilities

Considering the increasing living costs and healthcare expenses of persons with disabilities, cash assistance is provided alongside a holistic approach that includes logistical, medical, and social support. Our goal is not only to provide financial aid but also to develop complementary solutions that improve their quality of life.

Support for Voluntary Return Processes of Refugees

Support is provided for families living under temporary protection who wish to return to their home countries safely, in a planned manner, and under conditions befitting human dignity. The process is carried out meticulously, especially for female-headed households, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

Entrepreneurship and Small Business Support

Disasters cause not only physical destruction but also economic losses. Therefore, livelihood programs are one of the fundamental elements of long-term recovery. In this context, entrepreneurship training and grant programs are implemented in earthquake-affected regions in Türkiye to support individuals in starting their own businesses or reviving their existing enterprises.

Agriculture and Livestock Support

Agriculture and livestock farming are of vital importance for families living in rural areas. We enable the restart of production through the provision of seeds, seedlings, fertilizers, and equipment; feed, vaccines, and necessary equipment support are offered to families engaged in livestock farming. Additionally, we open new income opportunities through honey production by providing hives and equipment to families involved in beekeeping.

Vocational Training for Persons with Disabilities

Vocational training programs are organized to increase the participation of persons with disabilities in economic life. With the equipment support provided after the training, the aim is for participants to transform what they have learned into an income-generating field.

Access to Healthcare Services

Support is provided in cooperation with healthcare institutions for individuals experiencing difficulties in accessing examination, diagnosis, and treatment processes. Thus, access to essential healthcare services is facilitated for those in need, and the opportunity for early intervention is offered.

Mental Health and Psychosocial Support

War, migration, and disasters deeply affect individuals' mental health. Beneficiaries who experience trauma, loss, and uncertainty, and who need but cannot access mental health support, are provided with regular psychosocial support, therapy sessions, and medication when necessary, accompanied by expert psychologists and psychiatrists. This supports the post-trauma recovery processes of individuals.

Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation

Physical therapy and rehabilitation support is provided to improve the quality of life of individuals experiencing mobility limitations due to illness or disability. In addition to physical therapy services, orthopedic corrective surgery support is offered for beneficiaries in need, to increase mobility and improve quality of life. Within this scope, contributions are made to perform necessary operations for the treatment of congenital or acquired bone and joint disorders. The goal is not only to strengthen individuals' physical health but also to enhance their opportunities to participate in daily life and move independently.

Orthosis, Prosthesis, and Medical Device Support

By providing hearing aids, wheelchairs, orthosis, and prosthesis support, the aim is to ease the daily lives of persons with disabilities and ensure their stronger participation in social life.

Post-Disaster Educational Infrastructure Support

Following the February 6 earthquakes, Islamic Relief Türkiye continues its efforts to rebuild and improve the educational infrastructure in Kahramanmaraş. The goal is for children to have safe and qualified educational environments through the reconstruction and strengthening of various schools in the region. In this context, Bulanık Primary School in the Bulanık neighborhood of the Dulkadiroğlu district is being rebuilt. The completion of the school aims to contribute to meeting the educational needs of the region.

Additionally, reconstruction and capacity expansion works for Kayabaşı Primary School are ongoing. With infrastructure improvements and reinforcement applications, the school is planned to serve more students. Works related to the kindergarten project planned to increase access to early childhood education are also continuing. This project aims to provide children in the pre-school age group with access to a safe and supportive educational environment. The ultimate goal is to contribute to children's futures through long-term and sustainable educational investments.

Scholarship Support

Scholarship support is provided to students who have difficulty continuing their education due to financial constraints. This support helps young people sustain their educational lives without giving up on their academic goals.

Orphan Sponsorship Program

The orphan sponsorship program is a long-term support model aimed at regularly meeting children's basic needs such as education, food, healthcare, and shelter. Within the scope of sponsorship, children's development is closely monitored and supported with social activities. In Türkiye, a total of 3,000 orphans—including Turkish, East Turkestani, and Syrian children—benefit from the sponsorship program.

Orphan Social and Cultural Programs

Social events, educational support programs, and cultural activities are organized for orphan children. These efforts aim to boost children's self-confidence, develop their social skills, and strengthen their sense of belonging.

Umrah Program

Orphan children supported under the orphan sponsorship program participate in the Umrah journey with their mothers. As part of the program, children gather with volunteers in Mecca and Medina to perform their Umrah worship together. Throughout the program, mothers, children, and volunteers act as a group, organizing museum visits, games, and various group activities alongside spiritual visits. This process provides a supportive experience for children both spiritually and socially. At the same time, it aims to strengthen cultural sharing and bonds of brotherhood through interactions built with volunteers from different countries.

Ramadan Relief

Ramadan is one of the periods when solidarity and sharing are experienced most intensely. Throughout Ramadan, comprehensive relief programs are carried out by Islamic Relief Türkiye for families in need. In this context, the aim is to meet the basic nutritional needs of families through food parcels, iftar support, fitrah, and fidya organizations. Relief is distributed to the most vulnerable households as determined by local needs assessments.

Ramadan relief is not limited to food support; iftar programs, holiday clothing, cash assistance, and social event programs are also implemented for orphan children and disadvantaged families. Thus, the goal is both to meet the basic needs of families and to enable them to experience the joy of the holiday in a dignified manner.

Qurbani Relief

During Eid al-Adha, Islamic Relief Türkiye sacrifices entrusted qurban animals in accordance with Islamic rules and delivers them to those in need. The qurban organization is planned by prioritizing crisis zones, communities struggling with poverty, and vulnerable families. Slaughter, packaging, and distribution processes are carried out within the framework of transparency and hygiene rules. Qurbani meat distributions provide crucial support, especially for families who cannot access sufficient protein sources throughout the year. The program also contributes to the local economy and strengthens the awareness of solidarity.

Winter Relief

Winter months pose additional challenges, especially for families living in disaster and crisis zones. Islamic Relief Türkiye conducts winter relief programs for households most affected by cold weather conditions. In this context, blankets, winter clothing, heaters, fuel support, and suitable shelter solutions are provided. Based on needs assessments, cash assistance is given to identified families to support their winter preparation processes. With winter relief, the aim is not only to provide temporary comfort but to protect safe living conditions, particularly for children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities.

Local Volunteer Activities

Islamic Relief Türkiye strengthens its humanitarian relief efforts with the contributions of volunteers. Through local volunteer activities carried out across Türkiye, it aims to spread the culture of solidarity and increase the awareness of social responsibility. Our volunteers are actively invited to many of our activities, especially orphan programs. Children's social development is supported through social gatherings, morale-boosting events, and special day programs organized with orphan children. In addition, workshops, cultural trips, talks, and awareness programs are organized. These activities allow our volunteers to get to know the field closely and establish strong, sustainable bonds with the families we support.

Inspire International Volunteer Program

Inspire is a youth and development program aimed at instilling volunteerism awareness in young people and conveying the fundamental principles of humanitarian relief. Centered on the values of solidarity, responsibility, empathy, and global brotherhood, the program aims to increase the social awareness of youth. Under Inspire, young people are informed about the ethical principles of humanitarian relief, operations conducted in crisis zones, volunteer culture, and social responsibility issues, while also actively participating through practical activities. Workshops, group activities, field experiences, and social interactions form the main components of the program. The Inspire Program strengthens volunteerism awareness in Türkiye through structured, socially and developmentally focused activities for orphan children. Within the scope of the program, volunteers from Türkiye and Canada come together with the orphan children.
