Islamic Relief Türkiye’s agricultural support projects in Hatay continue to contribute to the revitalization of life in the region.
Together with the earthquake-affected farmers we support, we participated in the traditional Strawberry Festival held in the Yayladağı district of Hatay. At the event organized on June 6, farmers producing with the opportunities provided by Islamic Relief Türkiye exhibited their handmade strawberries, receiving great acclaim.
While Islamic Relief Türkiye provides 69 families with fertilizer, pesticides, tilling machines, and motorized spraying machines for agricultural production in the region, seven of these families participated in the event. At the festival, which served as an opportunity for farmers and consumers to meet, wholesale sales were made at retail prices, yielding highly positive results.
Detailed information about the agricultural support projects carried out by the foundation was presented by foundation officials to Hatay Governor Mustafa Masatlı and Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Mehmet Öntürk during their visit to the stands at the festival.
Making statements on the subject, Kehriban Parspancı, Head of Islamic Relief Türkiye, reminded that our foundation carries out meticulous and special work, particularly for earthquake survivors. Parspancı included the following statements in her remarks:
"Our primary goal is to provide a dignified livelihood for our people who want to work, produce, and hold onto their land once again. The revival of these lands is only possible through making our farmers smile."
Stating that the assistance provided is not limited to strawberry producers, Parspancı noted that they are implementing a multi-faceted development model to revive agriculture in earthquake-affected areas. Recording that they have reached thousands of people in the region, Parspancı emphasized that they will continue to stand by earthquake-stricken producers across many different fields, ranging from fertilizer support to agricultural machinery, technical equipment, and professional training.
Speaking at the festival, Governor Masatlı drew attention to the importance of production and solidarity, sharing his satisfaction with the projects:
“We are gathered here today for the harvest and the subsequent festival of strawberries, which is one of the unique products cultivated in this geography where labor and patience meet the soil. From now on, we will all work together to make our strawberry a global brand. I would like to thank everyone who contributed to organizing this festival.”
