“The son of Adam does not perform any action on the day of sacrifice that is more pleasing to Allah than the shedding of blood. On the Day of Resurrection, it will come with its horns, its hair and its hooves. The blood reaches the acceptance of Allah even before it falls to the ground. So, perform your sacrifice with a clean heart!”
(Ibn Majah, Edahi, 3; Tirmidhi, Edahi, 1/1493)
Building Bridges of Brotherhood
As part of our 2026 Qurbani organization, we continue to reach those in need in the world's most vulnerable regions. We manage your donations with transparency and deliver fresh meat directly to families in need, ensuring you fulfill your religious obligation in the most accurate way.
Donations will be accepted until the evening of May 28, the second day of Eid al-Adha.
Where are the animals sourced from? Which criteria are considered?
+
To support the local economy, we source all products, including livestock, from markets in the regions where the slaughter takes place.
Animals are selected according to Islamic rules. Accordingly:
Sheep and goats must be at least 1 year old, and cattle must be at least 2 years old.
Animals must not have defects such as blindness, disability, chronic disease, infectious disease, fractures, or wounds.
We have a commitment to treat animals with mercy. We provide training to Qurbani teams on how to treat animals and provide a detailed mandatory Qurbani checklist.
Where and with what types of animals is the Qurbani performed?
+
This year, Qurbani slaughters will take place in Türkiye, Syria, Africa, Sudan, Arakan, and specifically for Gaza.
Slaughter and distribution locations include:
In Türkiye; Gaziantep, Kilis, and Şanlıurfa
In Syria; Idlib, Hama, and Aleppo
In Africa; Mali and Kenya
In Gaza; North Gaza, Gaza City, Central Region (Khan Younis and Rafah)
In Sudan; Gedaref State, Blue Nile State, North Kordofan State, Khartoum State
In Arakan; Cox’s Bazar
Animal types are determined according to regional preferences:
Türkiye, Syria, Africa (Kenya): Small Animal
Gaza and Africa (Mali), Sudan, Arakan: Large Animal
Small animals count as one sacrifice. Large animals are slaughtered as 7 shares.
When and to whom is the Qurbani meat distributed?
+
Slaughtering begins after the Eid prayer on the first day and continues for the next 3-4 days.
The meat is packaged and distributed immediately after slaughter.
Beneficiaries are identified through needs assessments.
Each meat package delivered to a family averages 4 kg.
Packages sent to remote regions are hygienically packed, chilled, and transported in refrigerated vehicles.
What happens to the hides and offal?
+
Depending on the common practice in the country of slaughter, three different methods are followed for the hides and offal:
Hides and offal can be sold to provide income for additional Qurbani purchases.
They can be donated to people in need, low-income workers, or community projects (e.g., orphanages, etc.).
In regions where there is no demand, they are disposed of in an environmentally sensitive manner (e.g., by burial).
Gaza Operation
+
Given the ongoing conflict and current humanitarian conditions in Gaza, the feasibility of local Qurbani slaughter and meat distribution is limited and uncertain. Local Qurbani implementation can only be possible if relative stability on the ground continues, border crossings are opened, and live animal imports are allowed.
It is not yet clear whether the 2026 Qurbani operation will be implemented through local slaughter in Gaza or by slaughtering outside (for example, in Egypt or Jordan) and transporting frozen meat inside. Two possible scenarios stand out: local slaughter in Gaza if conditions allow, or delivering frozen meat to Gaza after external slaughter.
Regarding border crossings, while the Rafah Crossing is prominent, all transition points are under Israeli control and their openings are unpredictable. bu makes planning frozen meat entry during the Eid period particularly difficult.
If border crossings open and stability is maintained, local suppliers have the capacity to perform Qurbani slaughter or manage frozen meat distribution under Islamic Relief supervision.
