Sanaullah and his family, who had to flee drought and armed conflict to survive, have been living in camps for months.
“In our village in Qala-e-Naw, we suffered greatly from the endless drought and conflicts. Our children could not go to school. Our fields had dried up, and we had nothing left to eat. Unfortunately, we had also lost our livestock. Living under those conditions was very difficult. Therefore, we had no choice but to come to Herat. We have now been living here in the camp for ten months.”

“We spent the entire winter in cloth tents. Since our tents were not sturdy, water would always leak inside whenever it rained or snowed. My children could not withstand the cold weather and fell ill. Islamic Relief came to our aid at the moment we needed it most, providing us with a tent and blankets; we are grateful to them for this. We are happy that we can now lead a more comfortable life.”
